I’m Nicky — British by birth, a New Zealand citizen by choice, and after more than 22 years living on the other side of the world, I suppose I have a foot firmly planted in both.

I’m curious by nature, quite good at making plans, and increasingly determined not to talk myself out of actually doing them.

I’ve reached the stage of life where I want to spend more time doing and less time thinking, “maybe another day.”

So I’ve set myself a simple challenge: make enough of a plan to get out of the door, then see where life takes me.

I want to explore new places and return to old ones. To meet people and hear their stories. To follow an interesting road just because it’s there, be open to the unexpected, and get wonderfully sidetracked along the way.

My first adventure takes me from my home in New Zealand back to the UK. Some of the places waiting for me are part of my past; others I’ve never seen before. There are old friends to reconnect with, family history to follow, memories to revisit — and hopefully people I haven’t met yet with stories worth hearing.

After that? New Zealand is waiting to be explored properly too. Beyond that, who knows?
